Conservatives would ban sharia courts, says shadow minister

A Conservative government would ban sharia courts and impose a tough crackdown on Islamic

extremism, the shadow security minister has said.

Pauline Neville-Jones, a former head of the Joint Intelligence Committee, said: "We are not going to have any

status for sharia courts. Absolutely not."

Earlier this month it emerged that the Government had quietly allowed rulings of five sharia courts across

Britain to be enforceable through the county courts or High Court.

Lady Neville-Jones said that while minor disputes could be settled by "customary mediation" - including

through sharia and the Jewish Beth Din system - there could be no formal legal recognition.

"We are not going to have any legal recognition of sharia judgments that would withstand appeal to a

secular court," she said before the Tory conference in Birmingham, .

Speaking the day after Dominic Grieve, the shadow home secretary, said Britain had "done something

terrible to ourselves" by encouraging multiculturalism, Lady Neville-Jones said that the Conservatives

would make the case for more "integration" among all British people, whatever their backgrounds.

3 arrested on suspicion of terrorism in UK

Armed officers have arrested three men in London on suspicion of terrorism offences, British police have said.

The officers from the Counter Terrorism Command held two of the men outside a property in Islington, north

London, and a third was detained near the Angel underground station nearby.

The men, aged 40, 30 and 22, are being held at a central London police station on suspicion of the "commission,

preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism," police said.

German police commandos boarded a KLM jet at Cologne-Bonn airport just before it took off to detain

two Somali-born terrorism suspects, police say.

Security forces entered the Amsterdam-bound jet at 6:55 am (local time) and took a 23-year-old Somali

and a 24-year-old German citizen of Somali origin into custody, police spokesman Frank Scheulen said.

He indicated the two men had left notes in their apartments saying they were prepared to die in "holy war".

16 dead in US embassy attack in Yemen

Islamist militants have attacked the US embassy in the Yemeni capital Sanaa with a car bomb and rockets,

causing "multiple casualties," an embassy spokesman said.

Sixteen people, including six soldiers, six militants and four bystanders, were killed in the twin car bombing,

the interior ministry said.

A US embassy spokesman, Ryan Gliha, says no embassy staff have been hurt.

"Most of us that were here during that time were inside did not have any visual response or any visual

information from the attack however we all felt the primary explosion and secondary explosions," he said.

"They did seem to shake the ground."

Witnesses said gunmen raked the Yemeni police detachment outside the heavily fortified embassy compound

before a suicide bomber blew up a car right by the entrance, setting off a fire.

They spoke of a series of explosions as the embassy came under rocket as well as small arms fire, in what

is the second attack on the US mission this year.

Muslim hate fanatics plan to take over Britain by having more babies and forcing a population explosion, it has been revealed.

The swollen Muslim population would be enough to conquer Britain from inside, they claim.

Fanatics told a meeting of young Muslims on the anniversary of the 9/11 atrocity, that it would then be easy to impose

Sharia law on the population, the Sun newspaper reported.

Speaking at a meeting in London, Anjem Choudarry, right-hand man of exiled preacher Omar Bakri Mohammed, said:

"It may be by pure conversion that Britain will become an Islamic state. We may never need to conquer it from the outside."

He added: "We do not integrate into Christianity. We will ensure that one day you will integrate into the Sharia Islamic law."

His comments were made as voice of hate Bakri warned that the next 9/11 would take place in the UK.

Islam group urges forest fire jihad

AUSTRALIA has been singled out as a target for "forest jihad" by a group of Islamic extremists urging Muslims to

deliberately light bushfires as a weapon of terror.

US intelligence channels earlier this year identified a website calling on Muslims in Australia, the US, Europe and

Russia to "start forest fires", claiming "scholars have justified chopping down and burning the infidels' forests

when they do the same to our lands".

The website, posted by a group called the Al-Ikhlas Islamic Network, argues in Arabic that lighting fires is an

effective form of terrorism justified in Islamic law under the "eye for an eye" doctrine.

The posting — which instructs jihadis to remember "forest jihad" in summer months — says fires cause economic

damage and pollution, tie up security agencies and can take months to extinguish so that "this terror will haunt them

for an extended period of time".

AN Islamic organisation warning of the return of an empire founded 700 years ago has hacked into the website of a

Wollongong church and published disturbing images and messages.

For several days, anyone who visited the website of Wollongong's Wesley Church was greeted by anti-war messages

flanked by pictures of the Turkish flag, masked soldiers and an image of US President George W Bush with a cross

over his face.

While the text on the www.wollongongmission.unitingchurch.org.au website was not in English, other websites

on the internet hacked by the same group, AdReNaLin, identified those responsible as "sons of the Ottoman Empire

which had ruled over the entire world for 700 years".

"Be feared (sic)... because we have come back to frighten you again.

"Ottoman Empire is still living. Our ancestors have conquered you in the past and we are doing the same thing

as their sons.

"Ottoman Empire isn't forgotten and it will never be."

A bizarre ruling banning women from buying suggestively shaped vegetables such as cucumbers,

and the brutal slaying of children, lost Al Qaeda the support of the Iraqi population, it emerged yesterday.

Al Qaeda's enforcement of a severe form of Islamic law sapped support among the people for its campaign

against American and Iraqi forces, allowing Arab tribal leaders to drive Al Qaeda out of the strongholds it

had created.

Sheikh Hameed al-Hayyes, a Sunni tribal leader from a former Al Qaeda stronghold in the west of Iraq,

said: 'I saw them slaughter a nine-year old boy like a sheep because his family didn't pledge allegiance

to them.'

Life under Al Qaeda was not only violent but also farcical.

'They even killed female goats because their private parts were not covered and their tales were

pointed upward,' Hayyes said.

'They regarded the cucumber as male and tomato as female. Women were not allowed to buy cucumbers,

only men.'

Men would have fingers cut off for smoking, hair salons and shops selling cosmetics were bombed,

and ice-cream salesmen were killed because ice cream was not available during the time of Islam's

Prophet Mohammad.

the killing of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah for his moves towards inter-faith dialogue with

Pope Benedict XVI.

"They want to spawn a new religion on the Arabian Peninsula and that is bringing religions

closer together," al-Libi warns in the video message posted to Islamist websites on Monday.

The video strongly criticises the inter-faith dialogue conference held earlier this month in

the Spanish capital, Madrid, under King Abdullah's patronage and organised by the Muslim

World League.

Southern Philippines Bishop Martin Jumoad says he has received a letter threatening him with

harm if he does not convert to Islam or pay Islamic taxes.

Bishop Jumoad of Isabela also told the Asian church news agency UCA News that he got

text messages from Catholics saying they, too, had received threatening letters, Catholic

News Service reports.

Islamic communities at risk of home-grown extremism will be offered help by the federal government to tackle

radical influences.

"I've tasked my department to work with other relevant agencies to develop strategies to empower communities

to counter extremism," Attorney-General Robert McClelland told a security conference in Canberra on Wednesday.

"It is essential that we bolster the prevention aspects of our counter-terrorism arrangements and to work more

closely with communities at risk."

The 2008-09 budget papers contain a short reference to the kind of work Mr McClelland wants to encourage.

"Building relationships of respect and trust with Australia's Islamic communities is important to counter radicalising

influences," the papers say.

IT may begin with a chuckle, but it could easily end in tears. At least, if we are not careful. One may be tempted to scoff at

the demand to legalise polygamy made recently by Khalil Chami of Sydney's Islamic Welfare Centre. But with the recent

announcement by Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams that the adoption of sharia law in Britain seems unavoidable,

the joke may turn out to be on us.

Britain provides an instructive lesson on the interaction between increasingly radicalised sections of the Muslim diaspora

community and its Western host society.

From Dundee to Dover, traditional British values, already weakened to the point of collapse by a decades-long elite infatuation

with mushy multiculturalism and cultural relativism, cannot provide resistance against the growing tide of extreme demands

by radical self-styled community spokesmen.

The same way that the claim of racism has been used to shut down any debate on cultural identity, immigration and social

cohesion, so is Islamophobia increasingly used to silence dissent. To merely raise certain issues is to give offence, and offending

YOUNG Australian woman says she is ready to join the army of Islam in a violent jihad with a

declaration of war on YouTube.

Federal authorities are now investigating the video posting, in which she claims to be backed

by firebrand cleric Sheik Haron.

The video shows a woman with her face covered addressing the camera with a distinctive

Australian accent as she declares her backing of the controversial cleric.

“I can’t wait until we go to war on oppression,” the young woman says.

“I invite you to join the Army of Islam.”

The Australian Federal Police said today they are investigating whether the video breached

any anti-terror or other laws.

It is "common sense" for Christianity to be sidelined at the expense of Islam, a Government minister claimed on Sunday.

Hazel Blears, the Communities Secretary, defended Labour’s policy on religion after a report backed by the Church of England

claimed that Muslims receive a disproportionate amount of attention.

She said it was right that more money and effort was spent on Islam than Christianity because of the threat from extremism

and home-grown terrorism.

Ms Blears told BBC Radio 4’s Sunday programme: “That’s just common sense. If we’ve got an issue where we have to

build resilience of young Muslim men and women to withstand an extremist message.”
