Australian halal meat brand goes global

Might be a good idea to avoid Australian beef and lamb - although I love lamb, I will

try to avoid meat from producers or abbattoirs that “respect the laws of Islam”.

Australian halal meat brand goes global

October 10, 2008

A HALAL brand developed last year by Meat & Livestock Australia for use in the Middle East red meat

market will now be sold around the world.

MLA said the brand is set to appear with Australian red meat sold in Islamic countries around the world.

MLA’s Middle East regional manager, Ian Ross, said 28 percent of the world’s population is Muslim and

most lived in countries with growing economies.

"It’s vital the Australian red meat industry positions itself in the best possible way to supply these

important markets," Mr Ross said.

"The Halal brand shows that the Australian red meat industry is culturally aware and that we

respect the laws of Islam.

"Australia is the only country in the world with a globally-endorsed and certified Halal brand

underpinned by government legislation."

Catholic Church whoring with islam

Catholicism and Islam: Seeking Common Ground

From the desk of Tiberge on Sun, 2008-09-21 09:14

The Catholic Church, its leadership if not its flock, seeks common ground with Islam.

It has been said that the Church sees in Islam a ray of hope for the re-spiritualization of Europe.

Priests see empty churches while mosques are bulging with true believers.

They see the secular society addicted to pornography, abortion, and sexual promiscuity, while

the Islamic society is tightly controlled. They see the French State divided by "laïcité", while

Muslim nations do not recognize separation of Church and State.

And they admire Islam to the point where they overlook the dark side and delude themselves

into believing that the two religions can not only co-exist, but become strengthened through

mutual contacts and understanding.

Prayers prompt religious row

Muslims have found yet another reason to complain: "evangelical propaganda" during "Ramadan".

Perhaps they would be happier if Christians prayed, not for the salvation of muslims, but for their

death and destruction, as "Allah", their false god, might have done (Sura 8:12 etc).

Prayers prompt religious row

By Debbie Waite

A row has broken out after a Christian group organised a day of prayer in Oxford about Muslims

during Ramadan.

The Muslim Education Centre of Oxford (Meco) accused Witney-based Open Doors UK of preaching

"evangelical propaganda", after the Christian group held a Call to Prayer day in Oxford yesterday.

But Open Doors UK, which held the event at St Aldate's Church, insisted it had been taken out of

context, although it "regretted" any offence that had been caused.

A spokesman denied the meeting targeted Muslims, and said its aim was to reduce fear of Islam.

Meco chairman Dr Taj Hargey was invited on BBC Radio Oxford yesterday to talk about the

month of Ramadan, and was followed on to Phil Mercer's show by Brother Andrew from

Open Doors UK.

Dr Hargey said: "It was only then that I learned they were running a day-long Christian initiative

called Call to Prayer.

Terrorism: Al-Qaeda video urges Saudi monarch's killing for dialogue with Pope

Rome, 28 July (AKI) - Al-Qaeda Number 3, Abu Yahya al-Libi has issued a new video urging

the killing of Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah for his moves towards inter-faith dialogue with

Pope Benedict XVI.

"They want to spawn a new religion on the Arabian Peninsula and that is bringing religions

closer together," al-Libi warns in the video message posted to Islamist websites on Monday.

The video strongly criticises the inter-faith dialogue conference held earlier this month in

the Spanish capital, Madrid, under King Abdullah's patronage and organised by the Muslim

World League.

"Racist" Toddlers In The (Y)UK

When I was young, I turned my nose up at lots of things, to my mother's annoyance.

Stew, parsnips, celery, pumpkin, amongst other things ... I don't recall my kindy turning

anyone into the local council because we said "yuk!" to something.

Toddlers who dislike spicy food 'racist'

By Rosa Prince, Political Correspondent

Last Updated: 10:15AM BST 07/07/2008

Toddlers who turn their noses up at spicy food from overseas could be branded racists by a Government-sponsored

agency.

The National Children's Bureau, which receives £12 million a year, mainly from Government funded organisations,

has issued guidance to play leaders and nursery teachers advising them to be alert for racist incidents among

youngsters in their care.

This could include a child of as young as three who says "yuk" in response to being served unfamiliar foreign food.

The guidance by the NCB is designed to draw attention to potentially-racist attitudes in youngsters from a young age.

It alerts playgroup leaders that even babies can not be ignored in the drive to root out prejudice as they can "recognise

different people in their lives".

Iranian president wants to set stage for appearance of Shiite messiah

Jonathan Halevi and Ashley Perry

Published: 06.17.08, 00:43 / Israel Opinion

Shiite Iran is striving to attain the position of regional superpower en route to becoming a significant nuclear

power on the international stage. Iran openly challenges the West in its attempt to eject the Americans and

British from Iraq and attain hegemony in the Persian Gulf region, supported among other, by its military

program, massively built up in recent years. The Iranian leadership talks of a “New Middle East” in response

to the West, which would be an Islamic Middle East in the mold of the Iranian inspired Islamic revolution.

Iran's political aspirations are driven by a deep religious zeal. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad repeatedly

pledges "the imminent and evident liquidation of Israel," as a code word for the messianic fervor he shares

with his spiritual mentor, Ayatollah Mohammad Taghi Mesbah Yazdi, one of the more radical ayatollahs,

who subscribes to diplomatic and military activism to advance the global Islamic revolution spearheaded by Iran.

Hazel Blears, Communities Secretary, says sidelining of Christianity is 'common sense'

By George Pitcher and Jonathan Wynne-Jones

09/06/2008

It is "common sense" for Christianity to be sidelined at the expense of Islam, a Government minister claimed on Sunday.

Hazel Blears, the Communities Secretary, defended Labour’s policy on religion after a report backed by the Church of England

claimed that Muslims receive a disproportionate amount of attention.

She said it was right that more money and effort was spent on Islam than Christianity because of the threat from extremism

and home-grown terrorism.

Ms Blears told BBC Radio 4’s Sunday programme: “That’s just common sense. If we’ve got an issue where we have to

build resilience of young Muslim men and women to withstand an extremist message.”

Christianity and Islam.

The three-day gathering in the holy city of Mecca seeks a unified Muslim voice ahead of the interfaith dialogue.

In particular, Saudi Arabia hopes to promote reconciliation between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.

Identifying "Tension Hotspots" in the UK

Town Halls should map race and religion to identify 'tension hotspots', says Hazel Blears

By STEVE DOUGHTY - Last updated at 17:52pm on 12th May 2008

More than 10 million people are to have their everyday disputes, their politics and their business lives

checked by new "tension monitoring" committees.

The committees are to be set up to try to cut the risk of riots or disturbances in the aftermath of terrorist

outrages or outbreaks of local racial trouble.

They will ask for and file reports on named troublemakers whose political activities are considered to be

raising community tensions.

Reports on the behaviour and attitudes of local residents will be collected by community workers,

neighbourhood wardens, local councillors and provided by voluntary organisations, according to a

paper published by Communities Secretary Hazel Blears today.

It will then be considered by the monitoring committees run by town halls.

Anti-islamic moves in some western countries intolerable

Tehran, April 9, IRNA

Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Wednesday that

the anti religious and anti-Islamic moves in certain western countries are intolerable and regarded as deviation

from right path.

Boroujerdi made the remark in a meeting with new Vatican Ambassador to Tehran Jean Paul Gobel.

Recent sacrilegious moves have hurt feelings of Muslims, he said, adding that it is incumbent upon the European

countries and Vatican to seriously deal with the issue.

Anti-Islamic and religious moves in western societies should be stopped, he said.

Respecting divine religions and prophets is vital and their followers would show reaction to such insults,

he said.

Referring to commonalties among divine religions mainly between Islam and Christianity, he said these

commonalties can lead to broad-based cooperation between their followers.

There are ample areas of cooperation between Iran and Vatican which should be used, he said.

Religious minorities enjoy freedom in Iran and their followers including the Christians have representatives

to Majlis.

Th Vatican ambassador, for his part, strongly condemned defamation of divine religions mainly Islam in

certain western countries and said freedom should not be misused to insult religious sanctities or bothering others.

"We should stand shoulder to shoulder in defending sacred values," he underlined.

He also called formation of Iran-Vatican Joint Commission as a significant development.

The Mormon Church has to be among the most outgoing on earth; in recent years its leaders have reached out to,

One of the most enthusiastic responses, however, has come from what some might consider a surprising source:

U.S. Muslims.

"We are very aware of the history of Mormons as a group that was chastised in America," says Maher Hathout,

a senior advisor to the Muslim Public Affairs Council in Los Angeles. "They can be a good model for any group

that feels alienated."

US to attend inter-faith dialogue

WASHINGTON, March 26: The United States on Wednesday welcomed Saudi King Abdullah’s initiative for dialogue among Muslims,

Christians and Jews and will send its envoy to participate in the proposed talks.

“The dialogue is always encouraging,” said Sada Cumber, special US envoy to the Organisation of Islamic conference.

“We will attend the meeting.”

The Saudi king made an impassioned plea for dialogue among the followers of the three faiths in Riyadh on Monday and offered to

call a meeting of their representatives in the kingdom.

The call – the first of its kind by an Arab leader – has generated much interest in such a dialogue and representatives of all three

faiths have welcomed the idea.

The specifics of the proposed meeting are still being worked out.

OIC mulls legal steps against insults

Islam is reaping what it sows; its followers don't like the taste of the bitter fruits of jihad and hatred and

blasphemy against God and His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, who Muslims specifically and blasphemously

reject as being the son of God. Soon, Islam will be no more, and no great loss.

==================================================================================

OIC mulls legal steps against insults

DAKAR, March 15: The Muslim world has created a plan to defend its religion from political cartoonists and bigots.

Concerned about what they saw as a rise in the defamation of Islam, leaders of the world’s Muslim nations meeting

at a summit in Senegal considered formulating legal measures against those who insulted their religion or its sacred

symbols. It was a key issue during the two-day summit that ended on Friday.

The plan represents an attempt to demand redress from nations like Denmark, which allowed the publication of

blasphemous images, an incident that infuriated the Muslim world. However, the type of legal action it could take

is not fully spelled out.

[...]
The report concludes that Islam is under attack and that a defence must be mounted.

To protect the faith, Muslim nations have already created an ‘observatory’ that meets regularly to monitor

“Islamophobia”. It examines lectures and workshops taking place around the world and prints a monthly record

of offensive content.

The report presented on Friday urges the creation of a “legal instrument” to crack down on defamation of Islam,

but it is unclear what kind of legal action could be taken. Some delegates point to laws in Europe criminalising the

denial of the Holocaust and other anti-Semitic rhetoric. They also point to articles within various UN charters that

condemn discrimination based on religion and argue that these should be made stronger.

Hemayet Uddin, the lead author of the report and the director-general of the OIC culture and social affairs committee,

said some form of legal action is needed because “this Islamophobia that we see in the world has gone far beyond a phobia.

It is now at the level of hatred, of xenophobia and we need to act.”

The delegates, he said, were unanimous in the need for this. A new charter drafted by the OIC commits the Muslim

body “to protect and defend the true image of Islam” and “to combat the defamation of Islam.”

MUSLIM radicals have demanded Sharia law across Britain “without compromise”.

Extreme Islamics said the hardline system – where people are punished by stoning and beheading – is the future.

Speaking at a meeting in Birmingham, Abu Ibraheem said: “Let us make this absolutely clear. Islam is not subject

to dilution, compromise or relegation.

“The behaviour of some Muslims is failing miserably to meet these commands.”

About 50 activists held the meeting in the same town where terrorist Parviz Khan, 36, plotted to behead a British soldier.

Ten thousand leaflets were distributed to attract moderate Muslims.

Trips to Lourdes to cut time spent in purgatory

Last Updated: 3:16am GMT 06/12/2007

Pope Benedict XVI is offering relief from purgatory to Roman Catholics who travel to Lourdes over the next year, the Vatican said yesterday.

Pilgrims to the shrine in south-west France will receive "plenary indulgences" from the Pontiff, which the Church says reduce the time spent

being "washed" of sin after death. The indulgences will be available from this weekend until Dec 8, 2008.

The Church teaches that people who do not go directly to heaven must spend time in purgatory, where they can be purified of residual sin.

It is the latest initiative to get more pilgrims to the shrine, famous for the reported healing properties of its water. In August the Vatican opened

an airline service offering pilgrims direct flights from Rome to Lourdes.
