Quran rejection is criticized
Like lemmings heading for the cliff, or scenes from Dog Day Afternoon, the Israelis seek to appease the unappeasable and rush to the defence of Islam.
The Oklahoma lawmakers had the sense to reject the Koran “gift”, but have been attacked not just by CAIR, but by Jews & churchmen who should know better.

Several faith groups condemn Oklahoma lawmakers who turned down copies of the book.
In a show of solidarity with the Muslim community, representatives of the Jewish Federation of Tulsa and several interfaith organizations held a press conference
Friday condemning Oklahoma lawmakers who turned down a copy of the Quran.
Rep. Rex Duncan, R-Sand Springs, refused a gift of Islam's holy book earlier this week, saying, "Most Oklahomans do not endorse the idea of killing innocent
women and children in the name of ideology." Other lawmakers joined him in refusing the gift, which was offered by the Governor's Ethnic American Advisory
Council as part of the state's centennial celebration.
"Today, I'm an American Muslim, speaking for our brothers," said David Bernstein, executive director of the Jewish Federation.
"Hateful words inevitably lead to hateful actions," he said at the press conference held at the Al-Salaam Mosque, 4620 S. Irvington Ave.
"Sometimes they set in motion a chain of events that turn them into self-fulfilling prophesy."

Israel to come under Sharia law, says Israeli Arab cleric
I wonder if the Nascent Sanhedrin is aware of "Sheikh" Kamal Khatib's claims that Israel come under Sharia law as part of the Caliphate.
The Sanhedrin seems to be structured without any mention of Sharia law - based on Torah, Talmud and Rabbinic jurisprudence.
( Organizational structure of the Nascent Sanhedrin )
I'm not concerned by the prospect of Israel coming under sharia law, but I am concerned by the prospect of the Nascent Sanhedrin
establishing the ( Jerusalem Court for Issues of Bnei Noah ), effectively to enforce the "seven noahide laws" globally, on the pretext
that they are Biblical in origin, and binding on all gentiles ("noahides").

Israel to come under Sharia law, says Israeli Arab cleric
A leading Israeli Arab Muslim cleric said at the weekend that the Jewish state will very soon cease to exist and the whole of the country
will come under Sharia (strict Islamic) law as another piece in the puzzle to reconstituting the Islamic Caliphate.
In an interview with a local Arabic-language newspaper, Sheikh Kamal Khatib, deputy head of northern Israel's Islamic Movement, insisted
that the world is "on the threshold of a new era. The future belongs to Islam and the Muslims."
Khatib said that in preparation for the coming Islamic takeover, Muslims who hold Israeli citizenship like himself should begin to actively
rebel against the state by refusing to cooperate with and forming alternatives to the Israeli authorities.
Also at the weekend, Khatib's boss, Sheikh Raed Salah denounced current peace negotiations leading to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Arab
conflict as an "evil Israeli scheme." Salah, who is also an Israeli citizen, has long maintained that that Muslim world must not recognize Israel's
right to exist.

Israel Warns World War III May be Biblical War of Gog and Magog
by Ezra HaLevi
(IsraelNN.com) US President George W. Bush said a nuclear Iran would mean World War III. Israeli newscasts featured Gog & Magog
maps of the likely alignment of nations in that potential conflict.
Channel 2 and Channel 10 TV showed the world map, sketching the basic alignment of the two opposing axes in a coming world war,
in a manner evoking associations of the Gog and Magog prophecy for many viewers. The prophecy of Gog and Magog refers to a great
world war centered on the Holy Land and Jerusalem and first appears in the book of Yechezkel (Ezekiel).
On one side were Israel, the United States, Britain, France and Germany. On the other were Iran, Russia, China, Syria and North Korea.

Labor to dump Access Card
Karen Dearne and Ben Woodhead | October 16, 2007
A LABOR government would scrap the contentious $1.1 billion Access Card project, human services shadow minister Tanya Plibersek has confirmed.
"We have said all along that if the Access Card had not been introduced
by the time of the election we would not proceed with it," Ms Plibersek
said.
"So, yes, we would scrap the proposal entirely."
Touted by the Howard Government as a health and welfare smartcard and anti-fraud measure, the scheme has met with sustained opposition as a
de facto identity card. Originally proposed and promoted by then minister Joe Hockey in April 2006, the project has been in limbo since July, following
a series of legislative and procurement stumbles.
Human Services Minister Chris Ellison was forced to withdraw enabling legislation in March, after the draft bill was rejected by an all-party Senate committee.
A revised exposure bill has since been languishing, with Senator Ellison in June saying the consultation period would extend beyond the 2007 election. "I think
the timeline we set was an ambitious one," he said, adding that he would not put the legislation forward until early 2008.

Muslim medical students get picky
Muslim medical students get picky
Daniel Foggo and Abul Taher
Some Muslim medical students are refusing to attend lectures or answer exam questions on alcohol-related or sexually transmitted diseases because they
claim it offends their religious beliefs.
Some trainee doctors say learning to treat the diseases conflicts with their faith, which states that Muslims should not drink alcohol and rejects sexual
promiscuity.
A small number of Muslim medical students have even refused to treat patients of the opposite sex. One male student was prepared to fail his final exams
rather than carry out a basic examination of a female patient.

The BMA said it had received reports of Muslim students who did not want
to learn anything about alcohol or the effects of overconsumption. “They
are
so opposed to the consumption of it they don’t want to learn anything about it,” said a spokesman.

Bush Says Islam Is a “Great Religion that Preaches Peace”
President tells Al Arabiya those who murder innocents are not religious
By Stephen Kaufman
USINFO Staff Writer
Washington -- Ahead of hosting an iftar celebration at the White House, President Bush said the Islamic religion “is a great religion that preaches peace,”
and that Americans are free “to worship any way they see fit.”
Bush spoke October 4 with Al Arabiya television and answered questions concerning the War on Terror and the freedom of religion in the United States.
Muslim extremists have “done a good job of propagandizing” the idea that Americans do not like the Islamic faith, Bush said, stating his own belief that the
global community, regardless of individual faiths, “prays to the same God.”
The president later hosted an iftar event at the White House, celebrating the daily breaking of the fast observed by Muslims during the month of Ramadan.
“I believe that Islam is a great religion that preaches peace,” Bush said, and Americans are free “to worship any way they see fit.”
“[Y]ou can be free to worship, and it’s your choice to make. It’s not the state’s choice, and you shouldn’t be intimidated after you’ve made your choice,”
Bush said, adding that religious freedom is “a right that I jealously guard.” (See related article.)
The president said he does not believe that those who murder innocent men, women and children for political objectives are “religious people,” whether
they be suicide bombers in Iraq or self-proclaimed Christians such as Timothy McVeigh, who killed 168 people in a 1995 bombing in Oklahoma City.
“[T]hat’s not a Christian act to kill innocent people,” Bush said, and those who carried out the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks against New York
and Washington “do not reflect the views of the vast majority of peaceful people in the Middle East.”
The president said “the last thing” he wants to be is a president during wartime and added the war against terror “is not a struggle against … the Muslim religion.”
“[I]t is a struggle of honorable, peaceful people throughout the world against the few who want to impose their vision” upon them, he said.
“I think people, if given a chance, will seize freedom,” he said.
See transcripts of the president’s interview with Al Arabiya and remarks at the White House iftar.
